The Birth Game: A “Lottery of Life” Simulation

“Welcome to the womb. You are about to be born…”

In international schools, students come from everywhere, but may not understand each other’s privileges or challenges. The Birth Game changes that.

How It Works:
Students are “born” into random identities using a unique card-based game. They navigate scenarios involving gender, sexuality, poverty, religion, and family structures—moving beyond theory to feel inclusion and exclusion.

Curriculum Fit:

  • PSHE / Advisory / Homeroom: Social-emotional learning, bullying prevention, identity formation
  • Social Studies & Global Citizenship: Human rights, social equity, systemic discrimination
  • Theory of Knowledge / Philosophy: Ethics, societal norms, “What is normal?”
